I'm going to include my blog as a form of community engagement in my fellowship application. The only objective way I can measure its impact is by the number of views. Luckily the WordPress API makes it easy to download all my web traffic and I have made this data available online. I wrote this post in case one of the assessors decided to check whether I was just making up numbers.
I finally found the reason behind the sporadic 500 internal server errors on my blog. It was caused by the iThemes Security plugin, which had modified the .htaccess file in a manner that was causing the errors. I have disabled the plugin and the site seems to be running fine now. I've also added HTTPS on my domain, so you can now access my blog on https://davetang.org/muse/. Enjoy!
It has been a quiet year of blogging since my 5th anniversary; there has only been 13 posts since. Though as I have mentioned before, I am using GitHub to share tutorials and some of my work. However, I will try to write at least twice a month, especially now that I have decided to learn more about tidyr, dplyr, and ggplot2.
I started this blog on the 1st of October in 2010 and last year I decided to write an anniversary post to recap four years of blogging. I had decided to write another anniversary post this year, however, I am a day late; this is not without good reason! I have, as of the 28th of September 2015, successfully defended my thesis and obtained my doctorate! Since I was busy celebrating, this post was delayed. Here's a photo of me with my two paranymphs inside the Aula:
As the first post of this year, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. 2014 was a year where I focused much more on reading papers, hence the lack of posts on this blog (for those interested in what I have been reading, you can check out my incomplete notes on my second wiki). In addition, I thought now would be a good time to share my 2014 Jetpack annual report for this blog:
For those who are really keen, here's the full report.
I started this blog quite unspectacularly four years ago on this exact day. The real motivation behind starting this blog was that I wanted to do something (anything!) with the web space I purchased over a year ago in 2009. I had egotistically purchased the domain davetang.org1 because it was on my list-of-things-to-do-in-life2. But that was it; I had no plans on what to do with it.
