Dave Tang completed his Bachelor of Science Degree (Honours) in the University of Queensland. He majored in microbiology and biochemistry.

Dave has been working as a bioinformatician for the past 3 and a half years. He has worked mainly in the genomics area, although he has done some basic phylogenetics and molecular evolution work as part of his Honours degree.

Dave mainly uses Perl as his chainsaw to all tasks and has done some MySQL and Unix Systems Administration. He is also familiar with PHP, JavaScript, and HTML/XHTML.

Currently he is working at the RIKEN Omics Science Center in Yokohama, Japan.
